The night of the last post (Nov 2nd) we had a monster of a storm and at 4 AM the loudest thunder I have ever heard - the vibrations so strong that car alarms were set off for miles around and static build up on the overhead cables sent my modem over the edge into Disfunctionland. Now I have a great little external modem from that nice Mr Amazon who cuts a good deal on such things and my computer desk looks like it's all lit up for Xmas! (I also have surge protection that promises to react in nanoseconds - that's blooming fast :)
If you happened to look at the webcam today you will have seen the yellow council lorries & dumper truck, they appear to be laying drainage in preparation for the openning up of Peatree Avenue to one way traffic. This is somewhat amusing because, as far as I can tell, the decision has not been made yet and there is to be another public consultation down at the Peartree Inn shortly. Anyway, we can say (now with some authority) that working for the Council is not back breaking! Having spent most of my working life in labs & offices I have to say, in all fairness, not much back breaking works happens there either! Be that as it may, we'll be going to the public meeting and having out say.
