The weather has been getting colder with easterlies chilling our undies here on the Green but that has not deterred the boys from playing outrageous versions of football. This afternoon as one boy was about to take a freekick three others lined up facing the goal and shook their bums at the poor guy trying to focus on kicking the ball - at least they didn't actually moon him!
This week the winner of the competition to design the redevelopment of the Vosper Thornicroft shipbuilding site was announced. World famous architect Sir Richard Roger (see http://www.greatbuildings.com/architects/Richard_Rogers.html for examples of his work) was the winner and this has to be something of a coup for little ol' Woolston which could soon be upstaging Southampton.
As mentioned earlier I intend to be active in the consultation process which the City has promised will be wide reaching and inclusive. This development will, at the very least, impinge on the setting of peartree Green so I intend to follow the process as part of the purpose of this site. With regard to this, and the fact that I have been puzzling as how to explore the geography of the Green, I have decided to replace the Geography section with a wider exploration of the local environmental - just have to think of a simple name.
Given that we shall have sun again tomorrow I plan to take pictures of the Green from the Itchen Bridge and of the Vosper Thornicroft site so you can see what I'm going on about.

I know, not a lot happening on the site these past few weeks - I have been doing other nerdish thing like installing Linux on this machine. In fact that's what Im using to update this blog.
Autumn is upon us but we still have had little rain and temperatures have been high for the time of the year. But the leaves are turning and falling, I hope to have some pics on the site within a couple of weeks.
