Just back from my interview at the Department of Electronics at Southampton University which went really well, no stumping questions. I had knowledge and experience in all the areas that I was asked about. I would certainly like to get the post and may well know by the end of the week. Fingers crossed!

I felt angry with myself today for getting into a dispute with people I work with, I find it very hard to stay quiet in the face of racism and bigotry from 'Little Englanders' . I know intellectually that I can't change these frightened peoples' views but emotionally I have to challenge them.
These are not very clever people, they cannot think things through for themselves, they have no sense of history and therefore cannot see that their views have been expressed against immigrants for centuries - often using exactly the same sentences. They do not think, they read the rightwing views of the tabloids which they believe in the way that previous generations believed the bible.

Yesterday in a local charity shop I bought a Zenth 12 XP with standard lens, close up, zooom & extension tube for £10! Unfortunately, although the shutter mechanism works fine the exposure meter doesn't and it looks as if it's been butchered. But it's a good basic 35mm camera so now I'm bidding for a 12 XP on eBay!
