Looks like Iraq has turned into one almighty mess - as it was bound to. However they might like to gloss it, a sovereign state was invaded and the people - however bad their leaders may have been - are bound to get pissed rather quickly. How would we like it if our home town was suddenly over run by foreign solders. My guess is that given the history of the 20th century European countries are, on the whole, more sensitive to this.

This mire would all have been obvious to anyone with a sense of history & a feel for human behavior. The current sad state of affairs means that many soldiers & civilians are going to die before the towel is thrown in.

On a much lighter note, the missis & I went shopping yesterday and came home with speakers for the boys machine and a new scanner for mine. The faithful old Plustek 9636P just would not work with XP - goodness knows how many feral drivers I installed but no joy (I even installed the original Win95/98 drivers which worked fine except for the coloured bands across the scanned images. Anyway we now have neat little Cannon which is quieter, faster and creates better scans. The Boy now has the Plustek scanner for creating his own designed trading cards.

Whatever T S Eliot may have said, April is the music month (May too, as it happens), with Steeleye Span at the Guildhall and the Incredible String Band at the Brook. May 11th sees Eliza Gilkyson at the Comedia in Brighton on her first UK tour. This summer Dylan is topping the bill at Finsbury Park but I can't justify the £53 ticket - with fares it's a £100 day out. I wonder what I paid to see him at the Albert Hall in 1966!

There's so much to rant about that I'm drowning in venom - not really, it's pretty damn mellow here at Peartree Acres. The Boy is in Californya visiting his daddio so the missis & I are free to rave iy up all Easter!

The missis got slammed with about ten email attachments - all from the same IP address so it was pretty easy to point the finger but the ISP is somewhat lax. This was malicious without a doubt as all the sender addresses were spoofed.

As it is, we have been around the virtual block a few times and are wary of openning attachments from friends so we're not about to open this kind of rubbish. God knows plenty do!

I somehow lost Febuary & March - not really but lots of stuff happened. We got ourselves a kitten - she's called Daisy & is often to be seen on the webcam at www.peartreegreen.org .

The Lymp Ledger has not yet appeared but will do in the next couple of months - it's on the back boiler but is simmering.

Don't you just hate those stupid statements about ticking boxes? Like, "This ticks all my boxes." or "It doesn't tick enough boxes for me." For goodness sake!!!

After some deliberation I went out and got a new computer, see www.nethighstreet.com/COMPUTERS/elitepcframe.html - with Windows XP, no speakers but a Creative soundcard. It fast & stable and I have managed to tame it pretty well. Most of the software I wanted works on XP although I have yet to find a free HTML editor to match Webford.

The old machine has been passed on to Sam and we are going to set up a network with a switch rather than ICS - all of which means broadband!
