Ordnance Survey.
The above Ordnance Survey map coincides with a spurt of growth in the area and houses for ordinary folk began to be built around and near the Green. Soon after this date the tracks south of the school would become roads, although one of them (Tranby Road) remains partly gravel. There are semi-detached houses at the top of Bridge Road that were built in 1870 and the house that we occupy was probably built in the late '70s.
The smallholdings to the west were much the same in the 1930s. Sea Road, which runs roughly Northwest up the Green to the pear tree, is now closed to traffic. The present pear tree has rather small hard looking pears that do not encourage scrumping!
